November 2008: Diversity

Diversity > noun (pl. diversities) 1. the state of being diverse, 2. a diverse range; a variety.

Discrimination > noun 1. the action of discriminating against people, 2. recognition of the difference between one thing and another, 3. good judgement or taste.

In this time of great political change in America, diversity and discrimination are key components. It is happening on many levels, from race, age, sex, to political affiliations.

In general people.do not think of diversity and discrimination in the venue of political affiliation. People tend to assume as to what defines a democrat or republican or green party or independent. Acceptance of a person's politics is part of what our committee strives for. The committee encourages discussion and differences of opinion. Education does not happen if the lessons are not there

Your Local PAC encompasses diversity. The membership of this committee is devised of men, women, young, old, democrat, republican, green, conservative, liberal, white and people of color. The committee encourages participation from any others that wish to join.

PAC does not endorse candidates based on their political party but is based on how a candidate votes on the issues important to CSEA members. We also take into consideration a candidate’s responsiveness to CSEA members, whether they hold a leadership position or have been influential on our behalf in other ways.

Thank you,
CSEA Local 834
Political Action Committee
