January 2010: Goals for Success

Sometimes we forget that our actions are noticed.  We volunteer our time, efforts and enthusiasm and think it all goes unappreciated.  So it was nice to hear that Fran Turner of the Statewide Political Action Team has noted that Onondaga County Local 834's PAC is successful and notes that other PAC's should be looking toward Local 834 for guidance and interaction for their success.

We are looking forward to a busy year and have set some focal points for the Committee to strive for.  Some of our goals for this year include:

1.  Making sure our website is up to date on issues at hand.  This will ensure that our members get current information on what the Committee is doing and encourage feedback from membership.

2.  Prepare for the September presentation of the County budget and prepare to take action.  Since last year's budget was so controversial and affected membership and elections, we feel its important that the Committee keep this information in the forefront as it will affect membership.

3.  Another goal of the Committee will be to establish a list of Community Leaders and work with them to achieve our political goals locally.

4.  Stress to the membership the importance of our voting power and make sure they take the initiative to vote in EVERY election.

We hope feel these goals are achievable and encourage our membership to contribute to their ability to any one of them.  We always look forward to new members and invite members to come to our next meeting which will be held on 3/9/10 at 5pm at the Local 834 office.
