CSEA Information Days - Bringing your union to you!
If you don't know much about your Union, and don't have time to attend meetings, how can you find out more about the benefits and services you get through CSEA? |
With life getting busier by the day, it seems that few people have time to attend Union meetings or functions, or read about the union in the CSEA newspaper, so how can CSEA members find out more about the benefits and services they get by being a CSEA member? Simple -- if you can't bring the members to the union, you bring the union to the members -- with a CSEA Info Day.
The concept of an Info Day is very basic. CSEA can set one up at your workplace (with permission from management) or a nearby location, where your Region staff professionals and the benefit providers who provide you services can set up tables explaining what services/benefits they provide, and you can take materials and have an opportunity to ask questions of them. We usually plan information days to coincide with lunchtimes, shift changes or break periods, so that you don't have to miss work in order to attend. Often, food is provided by the Local or Unit sponsoring the event.
Some of the usual benefit providers that are invited include:
- A CSEA Member Benefits Specialist
- A CSEA Employee Benefit Fund representative
- Your Region CSEA Communications Specialist
- Your Region CSEA Political Action Coordinator
- Your Region CSEA Organizer
- Your Region CSEA Occupational Safety & Health Specialist
- Your CSEA Labor Relations Specialist
- A CSEA/AFSCME P.E.O.P.L.E. Program representative
- A CSEA Labor Education Action Program (LEAP) representative
- Pearl Carroll & Associates - Your representative for CSEA optional insurance plans
- Pearl Carroll & Associates - Free Retirement Counseling
- A representative from Empire/Davis Vision
- Representatives from your Health Benefit providers
- A representative from your Credit Union
- And many, more!
CSEA can tailor an information day to meet the specific needs of your workplace, Local or Unit. To schedule an Info Day, or for more information about one, have one of your Union Officers contact Communications Specialist Mark Kotzin at the Region Office, 800-559-7975.
